Call of the Dragon Behold the Pleroma Kurt A Hill Sr 9780615935720 Books

"Call of the Dragon" is perhaps one of the most touching enriching books I have read about one's personal journey in becoming a true 'Healer.' What strikes me about this story is that it details the actual "alchemy' that takes place in the process of one's own dissolution and transformation in becoming the highest version of oneself; including the emotional, physical, psychological, and Spiritual aspects in which this occurs. It is a story of the tremendous power of Love and how that manifests in ways that we also experience the Divine (however that is for you; God, Christ, Great Spirit, Shiva & Shakti, Nature, the Universe...).

This is also at once a coming of age story, a story of family, of friendship, a Hero's Journey, a love story, a Shamanic exploration, a transgenerational and a transcultural story as well. It is a true gift. It is one of those books that I wanted to go on and on and on. I found myself becoming so bittersweet with a sadness as I approached the end, as I did not want to lose this deep dive into the heart, mind and Soul of such an extraordinary human being!!!

I have always been drawn to stories of Indigenous and other Native 'healers', in particular Shamanism. I especially have loved "The Dancing Healers," "Tracking The Serpent," "Woman in the Shamans Body," and many others. I will say though, that this book, by far is my favorite. Kurt Hill demonstrates that 'true healing' and any 'power' in these realms is always of the open heart, with Love and Faith; Faith in something beyond our ego’s set identity. Love, humilty and purity of the heart that transcends our ego mind and sense of our small Self is a felt sense in my Being that I received from his gorgeous telling of this story. I find that my words can not do it justice.... I LOVED this BOOK!!!!! One could even say it is a 'transmission.'

You will be uplifted by the vulnerability, wisdom, humility, kindness, depth, and the magnanimous heart of Kurt. And you may also have fun with his wide and colorful use of the English language!!!! WOW!!!!!

I learned so much from this book and the wisdom of this man's words. As a practitioner and 'healer' myself, I am more open, more heart-ful, more humble and gently yet powerfully transformed from this book. Enjoy!!!!!

In gratitude, Nadine Keller, MA

Call of the Dragon Behold the Pleroma Kurt A Hill Sr 9780615935720 Books Reviews

Kurt is a gifted writer who shares his story with such honesty and vulnerability. His eloquent writing style beckons the reader to appreciate and understand his message on a deeper level and find meaning one can use on their own journey. Nothing can better demonstrate this than to quote Kurt himself “The realities of my transgressions haunt me. There is no peace. Thus, I cannot wander in the arena where ludic fallacy is acceptable. Authenticity is my only solace. The wounds have a place in my life…I use them as radar for the wounds of others. I can identify the wounds because I know my own.”
The simplest description of Kurt Hill's book is that it is the story of a man, called on to be an instument of healing for another person, who finds that in helping heal another, he himself is healed from deep-seated wounds. Hill writes with unflinching openness and courage of his longstanding pain stemming from a savage attack inflicted on him by someone who should have nurtured him, and from a catastrophe unwittingly caused by his attempt to help a dear friend. Readers will see how his decades-long dedication to helping others has stemmed in part from the profound effects of these traumas, but his story is about much more than his own journey. Hill describes the power of the universe and of God in bringing restoration and reveals the ability of the human spirit to triumph over destructive events. Ultimately, this is a book about hope and how hope, rather than despair, can prevail and true holistic healing can be achieved.
There are a dozen ways to start a review for Call of the Dragon; with so many intricate layers, it’s difficult to find an adequate opener. Does one begin at the outermost, where we are gifted with the fascinating life experiences from a master story teller? Or deep in the center, where we catch a breathless glimpse of what lies beyond the edges of the raft?

In sharing his story with us, Kurt has graced us with his tremendous courage and humility, in itself more than enough. But he takes us further. By jolting us into a swirling adventure where language stops at the door, he gives us a choice let the secretary take too many notes and fall behind, or step back as observer of all that unfolds and see the journey to the end.

While the large vocabulary can sometimes be intimidating, and on the surface, it feels like a book you ought to read five times, I’m not convinced it requires more than once - although you certainly could! Buried in the pages and between the words lies a little mischief by inviting us to witness him answering his call from the dragon, he has secretly primed us to answer ours. Whether we know it or not, or agree with it or not, in joining him, we have wandered into our own dark tunnel and begun a journey to find the light and step into it. The magical words in this book are seeds planted, germinating in the background, ready to spring forth at the very moment we need them.

So go ahead, take a deep breath and answer Kurt’s call – he’s right there.
